Access Statement

General Overview
This statement gives a general access overview for guest; if there is anything that is not clear, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We hope your stay at Amberlea is as comfortable as possible, so here you will find a guideline to our accessibility, and facilities they may assist you during your stay.

Amberlea is a detached house, built in the early 20th century and not built to today’s demanding needs, but we are trying to assist guests where we can.

Assistance Dogs
We are happy to accommodate assistance dogs with prior notice.
We do not take pets as a rule.

Emergencies
We have a hard wired fire alarms system with a alarm call button in the entrance hall and first floor landing. Smoke and heat detectors are in all areas of the house, bedrooms, public areas, kitchen and laundry. The alarm is an audible bell.

There is fire advice instruction provided on the reverse of your bedroom door, we can relate these to guests if required. There is Emergency lighting in all public areas.

Mobility Access
There are 2 parking spaces to the front of the house, which can be allocated on request reserved for guests with limited mobility. There is additional parking for 5 cars to the rear of the house which is accessed via a service road to the rear of the property.

Pedestrian access from the rear car park is at the side of the house to the front of the property. The side pedestrian way is made up of paving slabs and has 8 steps, they are large shallow (approx 10 cm drop) steps. The passageway is illuminated until midnight.

The car park to the front is of a tarmac base, which leads only to a small crazy paving path, via the grass area there is a small ramp to the main concrete path to the porch door. There is a small ramp into the porch.

Porch
The porch is of a small wooden construction with a tiled floor which can be slippery when wet. Once entered, turn right to face the front door. The door bell is to the left of the front door and the lock is the right.

Hall
The hall is an airy room with carpet flooring. The fire alarm button and water fire extinguisher are available here.

Dining Room
This leads directly from the hall, all table and chairs are of a universal height. We do have a small selection of adapted cutlery and plates if required.

Bedroom 1 Ground Floor (approx 12sqm)

This is accessed from the main hall by going up 3 steps on the main staircase to a small landing with a handrail to the left; then 3 steps down with a handrail to the right to a hallway to the bedroom on the left.

The bedroom is carpeted and there is a remote controlled television, refreshment trays and kettle on a console table. To each side of the double bed is a bedside cabinet with a bedside lamp and a radio alarm. There is a wardrobe and a chair in the room.

The bedroom has an en-suite shower room with tiled floor, handwash basin, toilet with a grab rail to the left, electric shower with a shower curtain. The step into the shower is 5 cm into the shower tray (70 x 100 cm).

Staircase
The flooring is carpeted with 3 steps up to a small landing; then a further 10 steps, with a handrail, to the right as you are going up to a second small landing. There is a 90 degree turn to a further 4 steps to the first floor landing with the handrail to the right. A fire alarm button and water fire extinguisher are available here.

First Floor Bedrooms
All bedrooms on the first floor are carpeted. All bedrooms are accessed via a fire resistant door with a mortice lock and door closer. The bedrooms all have a remote controlled television, refreshment trays, bedside cabinet with bedside lights, a wardrobe a chair and radio alarm clock. We have single, double, twin and family rooms with personal keys to rooms.

Room 6 is 12 Sq metres
Room 7 is 9 Sq metres

The en-suite to all bedrooms is tiled apart from in room 2 which is vinyl. En-suites consist of toilet, basin and shower and shaving sockets. 

There are steps to all showers not exceeding 20cm and all are various sizes from 70cm x 70cm in rooms 2, 7 and 4 with 1, 3, 5 and 6, 70cm x 100 cm.

Hearing Impaired Visitors
There is a written menu available for breakfast. Emergency information is available on the back of the bedroom door.

Sight Impaired Visitors
Guests can be escorted to their rooms and emergency information given verbally. Additional lighting is available on request. Please phone if there are any additional requirements that may help to make your stay more comfortable.

Mobility Chairs/Scooters
Scooters can be stored in our garage by prior arrangement. We have an external power point if you wish to recharge electric scooters, this is outside and we advise bringing a tarpaulin in case of rain.
